With no precise estimates on the size of the data to be migrated, the team had to be ready for potential high storage and processing demands—eventually reaching 8 terabytes over a span of just four days.
The registry's on-premise solution presented scaling and architecture constraints, requiring a seamless shift to a cloud-ready environment capable of handling fluctuating workloads.
Supporting thousands of concurrent users without performance degradation and protecting against security threats from various international sources necessitated specialized architecture and monitoring tools.
Applaudo partnered with a National Registry Center to tackle key migration hurdles, focusing on handling large data sets, optimizing an application not initially designed for the cloud, and fortifying security for thousands of concurrent users.
First, we addressed the uncertain data volume by configuring specialized virtual machines within a robust Google Cloud environment. This allowed the team to rapidly process 8 terabytes of data in just four days, all while keeping migration timelines and service availability on track.
Next, we modernized the legacy on-premise solution through a lift-and-shift strategy, minimizing the need for extensive refactoring. By leveraging Cloud Integration best practices, the new setup provided simplified server management and flexible resource allocation, ensuring the application could scale seamlessly in response to user demand.
Finally, we hardened security and supported high concurrency. Using Google Cloud Armor and continuous monitoring tools, the system could handle traffic spikes exceeding 3,000 concurrent users without service interruption. This proactive approach also mitigated risks of attacks originating from multiple regions, preserving both performance and data integrity.
Delivered an updated view of El Salvador’s territories—departments, divisions, and terrain—within 3–6 seconds, vastly improving response times for end users.
Centralized monitoring and tools like Load Balancer enable straightforward scaling and maintenance, reducing operational overhead and downtime.
Adjusted the cloud-based infrastructure to fluctuating traffic levels, providing continuous, reliable service to thousands of concurrent users without performance degradation.
