About You

You are an experienced Platform Engineer who enjoys building internal platforms that empower development teams. You are motivated by improving developer experience through self-service tooling, automation, and scalable infrastructure. You thrive in environments where you can pioneer new practices, lead technical initiatives, and design solutions that will become foundational across the organization.

You are comfortable working hands-on in AWS, collaborating with distributed teams, and translating platform concepts into practical, maintainable solutions.

•  Note: This position is offered under a contractor model for a period of 6 months.

You Bring to Applaudo the Following Competencies:

• 6+ years of experience designing and implementing architectures and services on AWS.
• Proven experience as a Platform Engineer, ideally building internal platforms or self-service tools for developers.
• Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and Terraform Cloud for Infrastructure as Code.
• Proven experience using GitHub and GitHub Actions for CI/CD workflows.
• Hands-on experience with AWS ECS and related container services.
• Experience provisioning sandbox or ephemeral environments for development or testing.
• Solid understanding of Platform Engineering as a discipline and its impact on developer productivity.
• Experience leading or pioneering new tools, workflows, or technical practices within an organization.
• Strong English communication skills to collaborate with distributed teams and US-based stakeholders.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools and workflows.

You Will Be Accountable for the Following Responsibilities:

• Design, write, and maintain reusable Terraform modules to power AWS infrastructure provisioning.
• Design and implement a self-service portal that allows developers to request sandbox ephemeral environments on AWS.
• Research, plan, and document the implementation of the self-service portal, ensuring long-term maintainability and supportability.
• Define workflows and automation that improve developer experience and infrastructure scalability.
• Champion Platform Engineering practices across the organization as an early adopter and technical leader.
• Collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams to ensure platform solutions align with development needs and standards.
• Continuously improve platform reliability, usability, and operational efficiency.

• 6+ years of experience with production-level Terraform experience including module design and infrastructure provisioning via Terraform Cloud
• Experience designing and implementing architectures and services in AWS, including ECS and container infrastructure
• Proven experience as a Platform Engineer with demonstrated ownership of self-service portals or internal developer platforms
• Advanced Conversational English proficiency (B2+)
